Introduction

Greetings, i'm Adele "the Karartist" Karate artist, embracing the awesomeness of both art and karate and the possitve effect they have had on me.
actualy, i'm more of an illustrator, being a graphics and illustration student. But, the karillustrator sounded more like something that should be fighting godzilla in some god-awful hollywood film...

this isnt going to be a blog about me doing art based on karate, this is a blog for me to share my experiences that have come from the two most positivly dominating factors in my life. I mainly want to do this because my art improves my karate, my karate improves my art and they have both improved me.

Art relaxes me and takes me to intresting places, i call them feild trips and i go on a lot of them for my university work. no one else on my course does this because it doesnt include alcohol and also because i have a Lot of motivation thanks to my karate "can do" attitue.
Karate gives me dicipline, motivation and ingenuity, the kind of stuff i take everywhere with me... like a little mental tool bag for the mind...
i take the best of both worlds and make them into one great big fun one of doing weird things like carrying a giant card bord letter "A" (in rockwell Font) around my local park. (i actualy did that and made a child cry when i put it on a slide. i'll tell you more about that story on my next blog)

art is something i have been doing for a long time, i'm not the best at it and before karate i had little motivation for it, a combination that dosent really work since the only way you get better at it is by drawing more. in 2004 i joined the karate club GKR (i know they have a bad rep with other martial arts clubs, but i am aware of their faults and still enjoy my karate training anyway)by 2006 i was 4th KYU thanks to a lot of hard training, and i was invited to train as a sensai, to get my black and white.
had i not started karate i probably wouldnt have had the motivation to start the illustration and graphics course at univeristy nor would i have had the drive to actualy get the grades to get in. But i did.
since then i have been sepmai for a small class, helping other students get their belts whilst also working up through mine and also i have been working hard at university. Black belt is getting closer year by year and the positive outcomes in my day to day life from karate are getting stronger, including the hopeful prospect of a first honors degree... not bad for someone who failed their GCSE's

but obviously its not all down to me. during the span of my Karartist development, i have had positve role models and really good friends too... who's lifes had also been made better by either art or karate. in some cases both, like me. Particulary Nick (my boyfriend) who has been doing karate for a year now (i signed him up) and who regularly gets dragged along on my feild trips (by me)

so now all that introducing is out the way i hope to tell you more about my adventures... missadventures and learnings for as long as keep this blog.

a humble thank you and hope you follow my blog.
